Nestled in the New Jersey hills just an hour and 15 minutes outside New York City sits the township of Branchburg. The township offers an escape without putting many miles on your vehicle or shelling out big bucks for plane tickets.

Visitors from the surrounding areas can take a scenic trip by hopping on the Raritan Valley Line—known as the RARV locally—to reach the township from anywhere in the Middlesex, Essex, Union, Somerset, and Hunterdon counties. Branchburg is located southwest along U.S. Highway 22 and Route 202, making it easy to get to any attraction the township offers.

Branchburg boasts multiple hotels, two of which run along U.S. Highway 22 and Route 202, giving visitors options. Major hospitality companies, including Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriot, own all but one. These hotels have all the major amenities, like a pool, fitness center, and dining options. Airbnbs and VRBOs are hard to find in Branchburg proper but can be found in the surrounding area.

What Are The Top Attractions in Branchburg, NJ?

There are multiple ways to spend your time in this New Jersey township. The biggest park in Branchburg is White Oak Park, boasting three full-size baseball fields, over five softball fields, two beach volleyball courts, walking trails, and a full-size basketball court.

The Branchburg Country Fair is held at White Oak Park every third Saturday in September and Branchburg’s largest community event for the last 26 years. Old Towne Park and Branchburg’s Silver Saddle Community Pool are just over a mile north of White Oak Park.

The pool is only open during summer, but it offers plenty of space to spread out and soak up the sun. The Irene Leslie Wildlife Preserve is also located within the township, which attracts hikers, birds, and bird watchers from the area. These attractions are some of the most beautiful places to check out in the area.

Veterans Memorial Drive

Dedicated on November 11, 2000, the Veterans Memorial Drive honors all of the brave men and women who have served in the United States Military and pays homage to the veterans who have served in our country’s wars. Six stones with metal plaques depict soldiers from the American Revolution through the war in Vietnam.

Can I Golf in Branchburg?

Yes, you can golf in Branchburg! The township has several golf courses, with Fox Hollow Golf Club and Neshanic Golf Course being open to the public. Fox Hollow is located in the northernmost part of the township. Neshanic is more of a links-style course, offering breathtaking views of New Jersey’s rolling hills. Surrounding golf courses are private, but also include Fiddler’s Elbow and Raritan Valley Country Club.

A round at either golf course will cost an individual anywhere from $60 to $100, depending on the time and day of the week. Due to their natural beauty and high-quality experiences, these courses are among Branchburg’s best places to visit.
